"Professional and caring"

"My anterior approach hip replacement was performed by Dr. Bickley. It was a success! He is a first-rate surgeon as well as a fine and professional person. I have also had successful surgeries in the past with Dr. Brady and Dr. Jones. From the time of making my appointment, till the point I was discharged, the level of concern demonstrated by the staff was very professional and caring. I would let any friend or family member know that Associates in Orthopedics is the best. "
— Michael Deloge

"I always felt that I was in good hands"

"Dr Bickley exudes competence. Meeting him in his office just before surgery, and in the subsequent visits, I always felt that I was in good hands. I was very apprehensive at first about having total knee replacement on both knees, two months apart. Dr. Bickley’s gentle, friendly and confident manner dispelled that apprehension. Now I am pain free and have resumed my normal daily activities. I am thankful for all the help and care. I have sung praises to friends and family and will continue to do so. "

"An atmosphere of mutual trust"

"I suffered with hip pain for two years as I was anxious about the full hip replacement procedure. But Dr. Barry Bickley performed this surgery six months ago and I have since resumed all my normal activities. I just returned from a trip to Walt Disney World, Florida where I walked the parks without any pain or discomfort. I am so pleased to have my life back. I would recommend Dr. Bickley and found him to be professional, empathetic and an extremely skillful surgeon. I would say "Don’t wait in pain, do the procedure and get back to your life." When contemplating surgery and a hospital stay, it is natural to be worried. Dr. Bickley was so kind and knowledgeable that he put me at ease. He created an atmosphere of mutual trust. If I needed any other treatments in the future, I would not hesitate to return to Associates in Orthopedics as I know I will be given the same tremendous care. "

"I couldn’t be more satisfied"

"I destroyed my left knee on my dirt bike – ACL, MCL, knee cap, meniscus – and had so many people tell me to go to Boston for surgery. After I met Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Gregory Johnson in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s Emergency Department, I decided to have the surgery there. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome of my surgery and my recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson and Merrimack Valley Hospital for surgery and physical therapy. "
— JasonTattan, Merrimac

"custom joint replacement implant"

Two weeks prior to my total knee replacement surgery I had an MRI so the doctor could have a custom joint replacement implant made just for me. My hospital experience was wonderful from the operating room to recovery and the hospital stay itself. I was walking a little the day after surgery. In two and a half weeks I needed a cane just for balance, and at a month I was going up and down stairs unassisted. I recommend Dr. Gregory Johnson and Merrimack Valley Hospital to anyone.
— Bruce Prescott, Georgetown

"I wouldn’t go to anyone else"

Dr. Jones is an outstanding physician and surgeon. I fell and broke my wrist in several places and because of Dr. Jones I have full use of my hand and fingers. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. She is personable, caring, very kind and always willing to take that extra step to make sure you have a good experience.

"pain-free for the first time in many years"

I was referred to Dr. Jones  by my rheumatologist who is based in Massachusetts General Hospital because of her positive joint replacement history.  Dr. Jones did a joint replacement procedure using arthoplasy surgery on my left thumb.  I am in the early stage of 6 weeks of recovery, but I am pain-free for the first time in many years.  I absolutely recommend making an appointment to explore surgery options of hand problems with ongoing pain. I am also very pleased with the friendly and professional staff who always return my phone calls promptly.

I am filled with gratitude and overwhelming appreciation

I have been remiss in following up more quickly as I had intended to do to thank you again for your assistance in resolving my concerns of April 5th.

As you may recall, I had been scheduled for surgery with Dr. Bickley on April 10th and had been informed that this date would have to be rescheduled due to a breakdown in communication. It is difficult even now to fully appreciate my feelings of desperation and despair at the thought of postponing my hip replacement – I had become essentially confined to my bed due to my debilitating pain.

As I compose this email, now just six weeks from my surgery date, I am filled with gratitude and overwhelming appreciation for your inclination to intervene with Dr. Bickley on my behalf, and for Dr. Bickley’s willingness to reconsider my case on a personal level. I am pleased to report that my surgery was very successful, and I am now completely pain free in my operative hip. Now…I just need to wait until I can schedule the second hip replacement!

I am the President & CEO of a nonprofit serving men and women with developmental and physical disabilities. In fact, I have dedicated the past 30 years of my career to serving some of our most vulnerable populations. Yet this recent experience has instilled in me a new understanding and expanded empathy for what it feels like to be disabled, marginalized and at times disempowered. When I emailed you at 9:30 p.m. on April 5th, I prayed for but never expected the kind of prompt, personalized, caring and patient-centered response that you helped initiate.

I have now shared my story with groups of my employees, my Board of Directors and other audiences and I am always lavish in my praise and high opinion of the Associates in Orthopedics and the exemplary skills of Dr. Barry Bickley and his clinical team. You also play the role of hero in my telling of the story…for your willingness to truly listen and advocate for a person whom you had never met and to whom you owed nothing.

Please accept my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for your role in this matter and for the Associates in Orthopedics for their patient commitment and personal approach. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in providing a personal testimonial or respond to a patient satisfaction survey so that others may hear my story!

Thank again, and all the very best,

– Dan Harrison
